Test Overview
The Pearson Test of English is a computer-based standardized English language test. PTE Academic is intended to measure non-native speakers’ English language proficiency in order for them to study or work in an English-speaking nation.
The PTE Academic exam is divided into four modules
Listening
This section assesses your ability to interpret spoken English. You will be asked to listen to lectures, discussions, and other audio recordings and answer questions regarding them. The audio recordings were made in a range of settings, including classrooms, offices, and public spaces.
Reading
This portion assesses your ability to read and comprehend academic literature. You will be asked to read sections and answer questions about them. The texts originate from a range of sources, including textbooks, journal articles, and news pieces.
Writing
This section assesses your ability to write in concise and clear English. You will be assigned two writing tasks: an integrated work requiring you to read and listen to information before writing, and an autonomous task requiring you to produce an essay on a specific topic.
Speaking
This component assesses your ability to communicate effectively and fluently in English. You will be required to complete a number of tasks, including giving a brief presentation, describing a graph or chart, and responding to questions.
